An Indigenous maths toolkit

Maths that means something, where it matters most.

The Problem

Students in remote communities are often taught maths through examples that don't reflect their world (city traffic problems, supermarket scenarios, contexts with no local relevance). The curriculum doesn't change. The distance between the student and the problem does.

Teachers in these classrooms are frequently stretched across multiple year levels, working with limited resourcing, and without materials designed for the context they're actually teaching in.

The Solution

Maths That Matters closes that gap, not by replacing the Australian curriculum, but by re-grounding it. Every mission is built strand-first: the mathematics comes from the curriculum, and the context comes from real roles and real problems relevant to remote community life.

Why Maths That Matters?

Who It Serves

Built for teachers and students in remote Australian schools, particularly those without easy access to contextualised, curriculum-ready resources. If you're teaching maths and looking for material that feels real to your students, this is for you.
